Not Without My Teammates

Our Vision

Since the beginning of this project, Jeff McWhinney, had a vision to inspire young people through words of encouragement and a message of teamwork, inclusion, diversity and education. With that vision, Jeff has worked tirelessly to find partners that share these values. The result is that Jeff has created a book that not only exemplifies these themes, but he has also found partners that have graciously allowed him the opportunity to gift 3000 books to at risk schools, organizations and hospitals anywhere across Canada. He’s also envisioned that proceeds made from the sale of the book will go to a scholarship already in place called the Glenn “Keeper” McWhinney Perseverance Award. This award has been given out to Jeff’s former high school, Miles Mac, every year, and will continue. However with the addition of other revenue into the scholarship, Jeff is partnering with the CFL, Football Canada, the Grey Cup Festival Committee, and the Winnipeg Foundation to hand out a second scholarship every year in the host city of the Grey Cup Championship Game.  Every sale of this book partners with Jeff’s vision of encouragement and hope to struggling youth in Canada, but this message is both valuable and timely through the many trials of the pandemic and speak the positive message of unity to children, individuals, and parents alike.

We hope you will be one of our teammates too!

What's Being Said About Not Without My Teammates

Not Without My Teammates is a wonderful showcase of what teamwork and the great sport of football is all about. As Canadian football’s number one fans, we are very proud of this project.

- The Honourable Lois E. Mitchell & Doug Mitchell

This work is a series of flashbacks to a different time and generation - but the same place. As such it is both poignant (because of the passing of much-loved heroes of the past) and happy, because their performances as sports stars and role models were so genuine that we enjoy being reminded of the scenarios more than a half-century ago.

- The Rt. Honourable Edward Schreyer
